Job Description

Job Purpose

To provide safe and accurate radiation treatment to patients as prescribed, ensuring proper operation of radiotherapy equipment and adherence to safety, quality, and care standards.

Duties and responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Radiotherapy Services, the position holder will be responsible for the following:

  1. Performing accurate delivery of prescribed radiation treatments in compliance with treatment plans and safety protocols.

  2. Conducting CT simulations and mould room procedures to prepare patients for radiotherapy sessions.

  3. Implementing radiation safety measures and infection control protocols to protect patients, staff, and equipment.

  4. Verifying treatment parameters and patient positioning before each session to ensure precision and minimize exposure to healthy tissues.

  5. Monitoring patients during treatment for adverse reactions and reporting any concerns to the radiation oncologist promptly.

  6. Maintaining and calibrating radiotherapy equipment regularly to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.

  7. Documenting treatment details and maintaining accurate patient records for continuity of care and compliance with regulatory standards.

  8. Participating in departmental quality assurance and improvement activities to enhance service delivery.

  9. Providing emotional support and clear communication to patients regarding procedures and expected outcomes.

  10. Any other duty as may be assigned.

Job Specification

Key Qualifications and Experience Requirements

  1. Diploma in Radiation Therapy or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

  2. Registration with Society of Radiotherapist of Kenya (SORK).

  3. Current practicing license from Radiation Protection Body.

  4. Proficiency in computer applications.

  5. Compliance with Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya.
