Job Description

Job Purpose

To provide comprehensive general nursing care by admitting, assessing, and monitoring patients, administering treatments, and supporting clinical procedures to ensure safe, evidence-based care and optimal patient outcomes in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Duties and responsibilities

Reporting to the Nurse In-charge in the area of deployment, the position holder will be responsible for the following:

  1. Providing general nursing care and support to patients in accordance with hospital standards and protocols.

  2. Receiving, registering, and recording patient information and presenting it to medical officers and specialists for review.

  3. Administering prescribed medications and treatments accurately and safely.

  4. Monitoring patients’ progress, documenting observations, and reporting changes to medical officers and specialists.

  5. Supporting medical officers and specialists during examinations, procedures, and treatments.

  6. Ensuring cleanliness and adherence to infection prevention and control standards in patient care areas.

  7. Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to manage patients with complex medical conditions.

  8. Participating in nursing research, training, and continuous professional development activities within the hospital.

  9. Any other duties as may be assigned.

Job Specification

Key Qualifications and Experience Requirements

  1. Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing (KRCHN)/Kenya Registered Nursing (KRN).

  2. Certificate in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) will be an added advantage.

  3. Registration Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya).

  4. Valid practicing license from Nursing Council of Kenya).

  5. Proficiency in computer applications.

  6. Compliance with Chapter six of the Constitution of Kenya.
