Job Description

Job Purpose

To provide radiographic services by performing imaging procedures, processing and maintaining patient records, and ensuring the safe and effective use of radiographic equipment in support of accurate diagnosis and quality patient care.

Duties and responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Radiography Services, the position holder will be responsible for the following:

  1. Collaborating with radiography and imaging staff to provide diagnostic imaging services to patients.

  2. Receiving patients referred for ultrasound services and scheduling their imaging procedures appropriately.

  3. Explaining ultrasound procedures to patients and addressing any questions or concerns.

  4. Performing ultrasound examinations accurately and safely in accordance with established protocols.

  5. Maintaining ultrasound machines and equipment to ensure continuous and reliable service delivery.

  6. Ensuring cleanliness and orderliness in the ultrasonography unit to uphold quality standards.

  7. Recording and maintaining patient records, including adding relevant medical notes related to imaging procedures.

  8. Any other duty as may be assigned.

Job Specification

Key Qualifications and Experience Requirements

  1. Diploma in Radiography or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

  2. Higher Diploma in Ultrasound Imaging or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

  3. Registration to Society of Radiographers in Kenya (SORK).

  4. Current practicing license from Radiation Protection Body.

  5. Proficiency in computer applications.

  6. Compliance with Chapter six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya.
